What This Tool Does

This tool extracts the text content from PDF files so you can paste it into Word, Google Docs, or any text editor. It reads the text layer of the PDF — it does not preserve formatting, images, tables, or layout. For best results, use it on text-heavy PDFs (reports, articles, ebooks). Scanned documents without a text layer will produce no output.

How to Use

  1. Upload your PDF file by dragging it in or clicking to browse.
  2. Click "Extract Text" to process all pages.
  3. Copy the text or download as a .txt file to paste into Word.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this preserve formatting?

No. This tool extracts raw text only. Bold, italic, tables, images, and layout are not preserved. For full formatting conversion, use a desktop tool like Adobe Acrobat or LibreOffice.

Why is the output empty?

If your PDF is a scanned document (an image of text), there is no text layer to extract. You would need OCR software to read scanned text.

Can I extract specific pages?

The tool extracts all pages. You can then edit the text file to keep only the content you need.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. All processing happens in your browser using pdf.js. Your file never leaves your device.
